My favorite thing about her is that she absolutely owns upbeat songs. She always brought a ton of fun and was never afraid to work it and although I do think that Carrie and Bo was the right finale I certainly would have been delighted if Vonzell had eeked her way in there. Vonzell had a myriad of songs that were great: "Chain of Fools", "Respect", "On the Radio", "I'm Every Woman" and "If I Ain't Got You". Its hard to say which performance was the best because every week she delivered and gave it her best. Vonzell and Carrie would have made it a difficult finale. ? It was mostly her personality that I enjoyed. Her voice is warm in tone but lacked range and control. She often had trouble with the quieter parts of songs, and went off-pitch, especially at the beginning of the performances. She over-did it at times, trying to blast out a glory-note that wasn't quite there or copied too closely to the original when she did not quite have the "chops" of the original singer. I would have liked to see her sing less well-known, less ambitious songs. Her joy and an innate sweetness came through, and she is absolutely stunning; I also liked that she "dressed up" at times. I thought Vonzell did fairly well on-stage, with a few occasions where she seemed a bit unsure or made a bad decision on her "routine" (like when she tried to use the walk-way behind the judges and had trouble navigating the stairs). However she has no control over her voice , often going off key and sounding very 'pitchy' as Randy Jackson would say. I think that after a few months of intensive vocal training , to learn how to better control her instrument , she could be a force to be reckoned with but at the moment she's nowhere near ready for the title of 'American Idol'. She keeps trying to be Whitney but she's just not polished like Whitney. You always think after her performance that something just was missing. And what's missing is she doesn't sound like a professional, like how Bo, Carrie, Anwar, Kelly Clarkson, or Tamyra Gray sounds. Those singers voices are refined and controlled.
