She's no Alison Kraus, but she is as good a vocalist as AI phenom Carrie Underwood. Her accent absolutely became thicker as the season went on, making it hard for me to believe she was very genuine. Anytime Ryan would be recapping the prevous night's events, she was the ONLY contestant who was unable to sit quietly and listen- there is no talking required during the recaps; she could NOT be that oblivious, and if she was, I have no trouble declaring her to be flat-out unintelligent. She can sing -- not always quite on key, and her voice often sounds thin. She is sort of cute, and she seems vulnerable which makes me want her to succeed --but that don't make her a great singer! I find Kellie to be and irritant each and every week, and I'm not falling for the "sweet, innocent, dumb blond from the sticks of USA" thing AT ALL. While not a huge country fan, I do listen to some and Kellie is just not singing with the right emotions when it comes to the type of song she picks. I wonder if perhaps it is because while she may memorize the lyrics, she has no grasp whatsoever on what story her song is trying to tell. She sings with a "come do me" attitude that would be best used in the bedroom and a few sound proof walls. The only positive I can give her is that she's turned a lot of heads, including those of the judges. I am totally stumped on how this one made it to hollywood, let alone the final 12.
