Everything became country when he sang it. He didn't care what judges or watchers of the show thought, he was country, that is what he was going to sing. Fan or not, you have to respect that. Having said that, I didn't expect for him to be one of the hottest things in country music today. That really surprised me. He was sick and still put on an entertaining and fun show. He has always been one of my all time Idol faves, and after meeting him, that will never change! I'm actually glad he didn't win Idol so he could go to Nashville and establish himself as a successful country artist in his own right. As good as he already is, I think hes just going to get better. I thought he got unfairly criticized a few times by the judges. They are the ones who boxed him into country and didn't want to allow for anything else. And then Simon doesn't KNOW or like country--so that really put him at a disadvantage. As a country performer I think he did really well, and what I have seen of him since has been impressive as well. I think he possibly has a really future in country singing.
