The voice seems to come deep from the stomach, with a full and round bodied sound without coming across as too gruff and reverbrates something in you when you hear it. Elliott makes difficult songs look effortless when he performs them and he has the amazing ability to throw in runs, riffs and melismas to suit the occasion and still not make it seem like oversinging. Though Elliott can sing note for note so does a lot of singers out there but one thing that differentiates him from the pack is he exploits the lyrics to their fullest by capturing the nuance and emotions of the words, case in point is his yearning and almost pleading quality in his vocal in If I Can Dream performance during Elvis Night among many others. I can listen to him all day long and not get tired of his voice. He is one of the best vocalists that American Idol has ever produced, if not the best. He gave me tears and the chills when he sang songs like "A Song For You," "A House Is Not A Home," "If I Can Dream," "Moody's Mood For Love," to name a few. No one idol contestant ever did that for me and captured my heart but him alone. He has gone through a lot in the competition, and for that, he is the American Idol in my eyes. I think the Judges have alot of input and he wasn't give a fair shot as far as the personality remarks (Simon). Contestants with great vocal ability, incredible stage presense, and infectious charm. However NO contestant has won my heart quite like Elliot Yamin. Not only does he have one of the best voices I've ever heard on the show, he seems to be the most humble and genuine guy you'd ever want to meet. He's battled through so much adversity in his life and you get a sense that he has a real appreciation and gratitude for the things he has.
